Our Organist

Dr. Charles F. Schwartz (MD) has been the organist and choir director at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam for over twenty years. He studied organ with Mrs. Lorraine Madriska in Amsterdam and with Dr. Hugh Allen Wilson at Union College in Schenectady. He has held positions as organist at various churches in the Capital District including Delmar Presbyterian Church and Delmar Reformed Church.

He was the founder of the Music at Trinity Concert Series featuring vocalists and instrumentalists performing both sacred and secular works. He has also organized many Cantata performances for worship at Trinity, especially during Feast Days of the liturgical year, by composers such as J.S. Bach, Handel, Mozart, and others. As a vocalist, Dr. Schwartz has performed with Albany Pro Musica, Musicians of Maalwyck, and other choral groups in both baritone and countertenor roles.

In addition to his musical endeavors, Dr. Schwartz works at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam, where he is the Laboratory Director and Chief of Pathology, as well as being the President of the Medical Staff.
